MIDWEST CONSORTIUM FOR LATINO RESEARCH (MCLR)
MCLR - Goals
I.
Increase the presence and enhance the status of Latino scholars
in the Midwest.
Objectives:
1 - Increase the importance of Latino faculty to member institutions.
2 - Represent the needs of Latino scholars to member institutions.
3 - Increase the pool of Latino scholars for member institutions.
- A. Attract Latino scholars from other regions to the Midwest.
- B. Increase the numbers of Ph.D's produced in the Midwest in all fields.
4 - Improve the retention and promotion of Latino faculty.
II.
Encourage and support scholarship on Midwestern Latino issues.
Objectives:
1 - Enhance the perception and status of Latino scholarship in all disciplines.
2 - Identify the existing body of research on Latinos in the Midwest and disseminate information about it.
3 - Identify gaps in research and methodology.
4 - Develop an agenda for future research.
5 - Promote collaborative and comparative research within and beyond the Latino community.
6 - Identify and expand resources to support research on Latino issues.
7 - Integrate Latino issues into mainstream curriculum.
